The very first comic strip (entitled Mumintrollet och jordens undergång) was a short-lived attempt for the children's section of the Finland-Swedish leftist newspaper Ny Tid, written between 1947-1948, by request on the editor and personal friend, Atos Wirtanen. I picked for fun some Moomin comics from a library a few months back and their tone kind of surprised me; things were a bit different from the cartoon version that I saw in my childhood. One specific moment that I can never forget was Moomin mamma killing that wild boar (!!!), then lamenting "hope he didn't have a wife", and finally said wife appearing yet remarking that losing her husband Moomin: The Complete Tove Jansson Comic Strip Vol.1.
